Q. Where did you come up with your stage name ?
A. I started as DJ Steve but I soon realized there was tons of these in every city. At the time I was spinning with a guy named DJ T-Nice, so I decided to add "Smooth" to the end of my name, like "Nice & Smooth". That lasted for a short time because I saw on the internet that Bad Boy Bill had a friend in Chicago named Steve Smooth so I decided to start from scratch. All I knew was I wanted a powerful name & what single word is more powerful than "control". I switched the "C" to a "K" and I've been rocking with it ever since 2001.
Q. Favourite Artist of all time ?
A. The Notorious B.I.G. is my favorite artist. Nothing changes my mood like some Biggie!
Q. Favourite Dj/Producer of all time ?
A. DJ Premier He produced so many classics & to me really embodies what Hip-Hop is.
Q. What artists would be found on your iPod ?
A. I'm not much of an iPod guy. 90% of what is on there is my own tracks & rough drafts that I need to listen to when I'm driving around or out & about. I love all types of music but I grew up on Hip-Hop in the 90's. I have a huge CD collection & a good chunk of it is from the Golden Era.
Q. Artist or dj you would like to work with and why ?
A. The Partysquad I think they are making the most exciting dance music these days. Their tracks are real simple but have tons of energy. They are starting to get big, but I don't think they get the credit they deserve.
Q. What upcoming shows or tour do you have ?
A. I am based in Atlanta so whenever I am home you can always catch me around town. I am here for the next month but Ill be back on the road this Summer, so be sure to check the Shows page on my website.
Q. How did you find out about CrateConnect.net and when ?
A. I don't remember the year but its been since the site was a Forum which I think was how it started. That was a long time ago! I finally met Slue a few years ago at this DJ convention here in Atlanta & he's been posting my tracks on the site ever since!
